Kenya's SGR launches inter-county passenger trains (CHINA)

In Kenya, the second line of the Standard Gauge Railway was launched on the 1st of November. Chinese Ambassador Liu Xianfa and Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Transport and Infrastructure, James Macharia, attended the launch ceremony in Nairobi.

The line will double passenger capacity to an average 5-thousand 4-hundred people a day. The train will be making seven stops between Nairobi and Mombasa. The SGR comes 122 years after Kenya's first railway was built. So far 4-hundred and 20-thousand people have used the line.
And it's only been operational for 153 days. At the ceremony, officials reiterated that the project had far more than just economic value.
