Thailand has green-lit the first phase of construction on a railway that will eventually reach China. The total 253-kilometer project is set to cost over five billion US dollars. And the first 3.5-kilometer-section will be in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima. China is responsible for the design, construction supervision and equipment supply of the railway. Once completed, it will be the first standard gauge high-speed railway of the country.
